Nurses on the Run~Why They Come, Why They Stay "Who
will answer the call lights?" This question, posed at a 2005
childbirth conference, planted the seed for the upcoming
anthology, Nurses
on the Run~Why They Come, Why They Stay, which will be available from Dog Ear Publishing in March, 2010.
Twenty-five nurses from across the United States and abroad
share their stories--stories about what brought them to nursing, what
keeps them in nursing, or about what the essence
of nursing means to them.
It is imperative that we share our stories. The current nursing shortage, in effect since 1998, is expected to continue. Experts predict that by 2025, the United States alone will experience a shortage of approximately 260,000 registered nurses. Pamela F. Cipriano, PhD, RN, FAAN and Editor-in-Chief of American Nurse Today writes, "Together we can change the future, one person at a time." Together, the writers in Nurses on the Run celebrate the art of nursing. |
