| Karen
Buley graduated from Montana State University in 1978 with a Bachelor
of Science in Nursing. She has worked in various hospitals,
in a
physicians' office, and for the American Red Cross. For sixteen years
Karen was a certified Lamaze instructor. She continues to
care
for new families and their babies in the Obstetrics unit at Community
Medical Center in Missoula, Montana. A published author, Karen's writing credits include American Nurse Today, A Cup of Comfort for Nurses, Directions in Nursing, Family Circle, and the Missoulian. She also has published fiction in The Montana Writers' Guild second anthology: Montana Voices, and she coauthored Lamaze: A Family Affair. Karen is currently compiling stories for an anthology-- Nurses on the Run: Why They Come, Why They Stay. Born in Missoula, Montana, Karen credits her roots to Butte, America, birthplace of her parents and her home throughout most of her childhood. Karen enjoys reading, hiking, volunteer work, and being a soccer mom in Missoula where she lives with her husband, Rich; son, Colin; and cat, Nickels. Her oldest son, Eric, is a student at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. Karen lives by her motto, "You can't win if you don't try." |
